two Pilipino lullabyes..
There are several Pilipino lullabyes
originating from several parts of the country. I am publishing two of these..
The one sung by Miguelita goes:
SAMPUNG MGA DALIRI (Ten fingers )
KAMAY AT PAA ( Hands and feet )
DALAWANG TAINGA ( two ears )
DALAWANG MATA ( two eyes )
ILONG NA MAGANDA ( a beautiful nose )
If I am not mistaken, this song was once used in a segment of SESAME STREET....
The piano selection interprets NENA'S LULLABYE..
First lines go:
"Sleep my Darling baby,

My father used to sing me these same two lines (substituting "Mother" for "Daddy") and he was such a horrible singer that I never let him finish the song. He passed away 6 months ago and I've been struggling ever since to figure out what this song is so that I might be able to sing it to my kids one day. I had no idea that it was a Filipino song, as he always sung it in English. Do you have the Tagalog lyrics or the name of the song and composer?
Did anyone figure out the lyrics to the whole song? My Mother always sang this to me but either she was sleepy or jumbled the words up, or I'm not remembering straight cause it's been 20 years since I last heard it.

However, I remember the lyrics "guardian angel watches near" and I have NO idea where it goes into...possibly the second last line somewhere but the melody would be all skewed then. :\
It's been a long time since anyone commented here. Does anyone have the complete lyrics or chords or any more information about Nena's Lullaby?
I think my lola used to sing a version of this lullaby to my younger sister and brother. I included the notes for the melody.

My Lola always sang this to me before bed. I’m surprised I still remember it. I remember it like so:
“sleep, my darling baby
mother is not far away

sweetly sleep till morning
my happy baby dear
This song always bring tears to my eyes as this is what my Mama always sing to me to sleep. She passed away 2 months ago and i came by this page looking for the lyrics to sing to my own baby daughter. I'm not even sure if I can sing it to her without crying.
Does anyone know where I can find this song or a video with the lyrics?
